Sat, 28 November 2009 Kent Brown is a golf professional whose career and interest in the game spans more than fifty years. His first coach and teacher was his father, who cut down a wooden-shafted five iron, for Kent, when he was only six. His love and passion for the game came almost immediately. Today he is often kidded by his friends as being one-dimensional. It is however, his total commitment to his sport, and his life-long desire to improve, and help others to improve, that has set him apart as one of the top teachers in the country. Even though Kent spends most of his time at junior golf tournaments, and teaching juniors, and adults alike; he has never stopped being a student of the game himself. Kent feels privileged to have had opportunities for personal interaction with many industry leaders, top instructors, and PGA Tour professionals—most notably, Ben Hogan. He currently serves on the Southern California PGA Advisory Committee. Kent played on his high school golf team before playing on scholarship at Cal State Long Beach, where he was team captain and number-one player in his junior and senior years. After instructing golf in the US Army, Kent turned professional, and joined the mini-tour ranks. He played competitive tournament golf for almost three years before accepting a position with the Ben Hogan Company in Ft Worth, Texas. It was there at the Ben Hogan Company, Kent continued his learning from the master. During his fifteen years with the Hogan Company, Kent became acquainted with tour player, and prominent golf instructor, Mac Ogrady. It was under Mac’s watchful eye that Kent developed as a professional’s professional. It was two years later, when long time friend, Dr. Tim Somerville, and Kent founded the now, world famous, Professional Golfers Career College, with campuses in Temecula, California, Orlando, Florida, and Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. He served as Executive Director of the college for fifteen years, where he also taught Psychology of Golf, gave his students individual golf lessons, and taught them how to teach the game to others. After selling his interest in PGCC in 2005, Kent accepted a position with the International Junior Golf Tour as the West Coast Director. In this role, he continues to teach and motivate the next generation of young players. Comments[0] |

Sat, 21 November 2009 Sumi-E: Asian art form of black ink painting. Elegant, clean lines. Focused, practiced, serene, and beautiful. Sumi-G: Sumi-G translates the spirit of the Sumi-E art form as inspiration for stylish and smart golf products. Sumi-G streamlines how golf is played, eliminating steps that break concentration, and become part of the player's process. Sumi-G makes the golf experience more enjoyable, reflecting the essence of the game: feel, simplicity, process, and presence. Our philosophy is uncomplicated: create simple, useful, and elegant products for the avid golfer. Sumi-G launched at the 2009 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando and debuted three product collections: The Trunk, The Tee, and The Green. Sumi-G products span the golf journey and complement every player. Sumi-G collections tell a story and provide golfers with the tools they need to enjoy the course. A golfer arrives on the green. He brushes his hand across his belt buckle and a square ball marker slides into his palm. He marks his ball with attitude, repairs his mark with an elegant stainless steel tool, and makes his putt. He records his score on a card held in a fine leather scorecard wallet, and then slips his cash winnings between the arms of an innovative money clip. The Sumi-G head covers are the company's flagship products. In development for more than five years, they are patent pending and unlike anything else on the market. They embody the Sumi-G process and design ideal by offering easy, one-handed operation, even on the big 460cc drivers. Thought was also put into making the covers easy to pick up from the ground using the club. No need to bend down. Those ideals of feel, simplicity, process, and presence also carry through into the clean, simple design aesthetics of these stunning head covers. We are committed to developing products that become part of a golfer's routine in a fluid and natural way. We strive to bring our passion for the game and the process of golf into the business of golf - investing our buyers, our customers, our employees and ourselves with full and complete commitment to success. www.sumi-g.com Mike & Billy play GTR "Fore Play" golf trivia and the winner receives a golf package valued at over $500 - a night stay at the Avila La Fonda Hotel in beautiful Avila Beach, California, rounds of golf at the Avila Beach or Blacklake Golf Resorts and a golf clinic gift certificate for two to attend a Golf Talk Radio with Mike & Billy! Mon, 16 November 2009 If one piece of equipment could instantly change your game, would you get it? To many, golf represents the relentless pursuit of unattainable perfection. There is always room for improvement and any number of 'cool' products purchased in the hope of improving your game. But when was the last time any of those products truly delivered a performance edge? Makkar - The Performance Advantage Find out what several PGA pros and a growing number of golf enthusiasts already know - Makkar works, and works instantly! Game changing benefits include: Increased Strength In a game of inches, how much of a difference would extra distance off the tee make? Increases in overall strength can translate to game enhancing increases in clubhead speed. Improved Balance Accuracy is, in-part, the by-product of maintaining optimal alignment and balance throughout your swing. Enhanced balance and alignment leads to better mechanics - a critical factor in avoiding trouble off the tee, hitting more fairways and correcting a slice. Consistency In golf, consistency is everything. The ability to reproduce a consistent swing throughout your round can have a game changing impact on scoring. Endurance It's not how you start, but how you finish – the best golfers can finish as strong on the 18th as they started on the first. Mon, 16 November 2009 Utopia Golf Products is a young company headquartered in the tiny Texas town of Utopia (population: 300). The company's coming-out party took place at the PGA Fall Expo in early September in Las Vegas, where its uniquely designed putters garnered a "Best New Product" award. Utopia's first putters to market are the TXR I and TXR II. All putters are designed, milled, hand-assembled, painted and polished in tiny Utopia, and with company founders and designers Scott Saunders and Michael Hillis checking them out. The company describes the TXR 1 as a "cavity-back blade" and the TXR II as a "heel-shafted cavity-back mallet." So what's unique about the design? That ridge you can see in the photo above of the TXR 1. That ridge - a raised, thin leading edge - is what strikes the ball, and the ridge is positioned to strike the ball just above the ball's equator. The intent is provide the ball with immediate forward roll, rather than the backspin that most traditional putters (which have a few degrees of loft) start the ball with. An immediate forward roll, the company says, eliminates skipping and skidding, helping the ball stay online. The company is working on getting its putters into on- and off-course pro shops and sporting goods retailers. If they are not yet available where you live, the putters can be ordered (and more information found) on the company Web site, utopiagolfproducts.com. www.utopiagolfproducts.com Avila Beach Golf Resort - www.avilabeachresort.com Blacklake Golf Resort - www.blacklake.com Inn at Avila Beach - www.avilabeachca.com Avila LaFonda Hotel - www.avilalafondahotel.com Golfland Warehouse - www.golflandwarehouse.com Slickstix - www.slickstix.com For more information on Golf Talk Radio with Mike & Billy visit www.golftalkradio.com and visit www.centralcoasttoday.com for Golf Talk TV with Mike & Billy. Sat, 7 November 2009 The best putters in the world will admit that they try to swing the putter a little inside on the back stroke and then release the putter head down the line on the through stroke. It only makes sense if you want the ball to go straight down the line you need to release your putter head down the line. The Inside Down the Line™ Putting Track will teach you to putt like the best players in the world. Simply place the heel of your putter against the vertical portion of the track. As you make your stroke allow the putter head to stay in contact with the Inside Down the Line™ Putting Track at all times. The putter head will swing a little inside, then down the line on the through stroke. You won’t believe how many putts you can make using the Inside Down the Line™ Putting Track. It will feel natural and effortless and the results will be remarkable! You notice the ball rolling like it has over-spin on it. The ball will track right down your line and into the cup using the Inside Down the Line™ Putting Track. You’ll train yourself to repeat this perfect putting stroke with your own putter to sink more putts and lower your scores. The Inside Down the Line™ Putting Track is the IDEAL putting aid to improve your putting for good. www.momentusgolf.com About Golf Tees Galore We are a California Partnership. Sat, 7 November 2009 During Mike's Course - Mike & Billy discuss the upcoming Straight Down Fall Classic and the challenges the golf industry faces not only economically but also with resources such as water. Introducing Acculength, the only custom fit Junior clubs that grow with your child. Most juniors develop their swings using faulty equipment that leads to life long swing flaws. Historically, kids learned the game with adult clubs that were cut down to junior size, but were still way too heavy and unbalanced which made learning the game difficult for even the most athletic kids. Accu-Length's Custom Fit System Makes Learning the Game Easy PGA teaching professionals agree that a correctly fitted club is the most important factor in a junior golfer's development. It provides them a better chance to get the ball airborne consistently and is critical to proper swing motion. Custom fit for length, weight, and balance No transition between sets – your child will learn the game using only one set, saving you money and speeding up the learning process One set – 5 seasons, think of the money you'll save!
